Yuruga Nursery consists of two sections:

General Production

The General Production section produces Australia's largest range of tropical rainforest plants (having pioneered this field) as well as a large number of the well known natives such as callistemons, melaleucas, grevilleas, eucalypts, etc.

Mass Production

The Mass Production section pioneered the mass-production of high value, cutting-grown, clonal crops for agriculture and forestry and is the only nursery in Australia able to mass-produce hybrid eucalypt clones and elite tea-tree clones for forestry and agriculture.

Yuruga Nursery began in 1985 as a tiny operation funded from the owner's savings. As the nursery has grown, profits have been re-invested and the nursery is now a highly capitalised operation with high-tech, modern facilities.

Mechanisation includes forklift and tractors, pasteuriser for recycling pots and trays, tray fillers, soil mixers and potting machine, thus enabling the production and despatch of large quantities of plants very quickly and efficiently.

Importantly, Yuruga has state-of-the-art cutting houses totalling 2500 sq metres floor space, with full climate control and total production capacity of 1 million cuttings per month.

Yuruga also has growing on areas totalling 20,000 sq metres, made up of 4,000 sq metres under shade and 16,000 sq metres in full sun.

Automatic generators provide crop protection against power failures and an alarm system connected to a 24 hour paging network provides crop protection against irrigation failure.

Potting machines allow fast and efficient potting. Potting media is mixed on site in a specially constructed soil mixer and delivered into the hopper of the potting machine by a conveyor belt.
