Partnerships - Collaboration with the Queensland Government

Yuruga Nursery is currently sponsoring a Queensland Government DPI project (in partnership with the RIRDC) to identify and evaluate the commercial potential of north Queensland native species for the Cut Flower and Foliage Industry. Yuruga is making a substantial monetary contribution, as well as supplying the plants for the establishment of the trial plots, and providing expert advice regarding cultivation techniques and requirements.

The project has already resulted in the identification of several new plants which are now being trialled commercially in Stage II of the project. Yuruga has taken out Plant Breeders Rights over the best two of these new plants, Stenocarpus 'Forest Lace' and Stenocarpus 'Forest Gem'.
